How to read this sector
Music is a chain of different rights and services. Recorded-music rights, composition publishing, artist management, live performance and digital distribution are distinct activities, even when one group participates in several. A streaming platform's subscriber or advertising business is different from a rights owner's licensing business. Catalogue depth, release schedules, artist relationships and exposure to particular markets help explain those differences. These profiles identify the business behind the listed security; the returns below do not measure royalties for an individual artist or the performance of a particular catalogue. The roster is the Index's selected coverage, not a ranking of every music company.
